Once upon a time, I started this site, then promptly forgot about it.
Today we start again, building on the foundations, and going forward.

Born in 1928, Dad’s life story could read like a novel, steeped in rich adventures and experiences, a journey through diverse landscapes, geographically and professionally.
Following an Army hitch in Post-War Japan he transitioned from roles in construction to being a safety consultant, a counselor to the developmentally disabled, and finally an ordained chaplain, while also earning both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, weaving these varied experiences into his writings.
He produced many essays and short articles throughout his adult life, but it was not until age 82 that his first book was published, a collection of poetry where the beauty of nature meets the brevity of human experience in the form of Haiku.
He has since added several more, including more volumes of Haiku poetry, several collections of essays and short stories, and novels based on real incidents from his eventful life, a blend of fact and fiction offering readers a unique window into the past century’s most pivotal moments and the everyday stories of those who lived them.
In addition to his literary endeavors, Dad’s passion for the music of Swing and Jazz led him to hosting both The Best Of Swing and Charlie’s Place, his own radio programs centered around his vast music collection.

This is the place you arrive if you are a fan of Charles Walker’s radio shows or his books. This will also be the arrival gate to what I hope will be a cool place to visit and meet new-to-you stuff like Books and Music and Art and Craft and more, sort of the “BrainFood” part, while the “Beverage” part has yet to be defined, it just balanced the original phrase, which came from my days in that line of work.
I am Robert, son of Charlie, and doing what I can to share his legacy, which was a profound curiosity about a lot of things, and a real interest in music.
If you listen to CHARLIE’S PLACE, streaming on KXCR.net or if you are a fan of THE BEST OF SWING, also from KXCR Florence Oregon, then you have already met Dad ‘the DJ’, and his incredible collection of records covering the middle years of the last century, generally the 30s through the 50s at the core. What you may or may not know is his work as a Writer, and I will have more on that later.
I am still developing this site, but eventually you will be able to listen to his music here, and my hope is to make available a few of the books he wrote over the years, as well.
My dream is to share here not only Dad’s works, but also links and connections to other friends and family who are also Creatives, whether Actors or Writers or Painters or Musicians or Crafters or… well, like I said, Creatives.

I am happy to report that my first major Article submission “How to Make Money Online? Transfer Your ‘Brick-and-Mortar’ Skills” has been accepted and published at EzineArticles.com
It was not an easy process, requiring submission and revision to get it into shape, but it is another of those things that you must become good at if you want to become a successful Internet Marketer.
We will look more deeply into this in another posting, but for now, we celebrate!

Hello, I am Rob Gatlinberg.
If you are anything like me, you have long dreamed of making money on the internet, of checking your email and discovering that while you were sleeping the money was pouring into your bank account like a fountain of wealth from Aladdin’s magic lamp…
Good news! It IS possible to earn a comfortable living off the web, and for some, even get rich – subject to your idea of “rich”, of course!
The bad news?
Sorry, but there is no “magic formula” to getting filthy rich overnight…to succeed in this new world of economic opportunities, it will still require the same dedication and hard work as in the “real” world.
However, the methods are, perhaps, easier to learn, it is possible to get started with minimal, or even NO investment out-of-pocket, and the end results are more under your direct control than you might find in your daily grind.
In fact, the reward for your effort is more directly dependent upon you than in any other arena, because you are, in fact, your own Boss!
YOU decide how much effort to put out, and this will DIRECTLY affect whatever return you get back.
While it may sound scary, do not let it defeat you! After all, nothing worth having comes without some effort, and even the lottery winners had to start by at least investing in a ticket, so once you accept that, you are on your way; the rest is just details.
Best of all, your own internet marketing discoveries will include a lot of useful information, folks willing to help you at every step, and all you have to do is ask…and the best way to do that, seriously, is to start by asking yourself just what it is you want to do – besides get filthy rich with as little effort as possible, of course!
My goal is to help to take the mystery out of making money on the internet by creating a business online, and help you to understand how it is done.
I have been studying this whole online marketing jazz since about 2005, and along the way I have learned, just as you have, there are no shortcuts, there is no ‘magic bullet’, and there are an awful lot of sales-people out there who will sell you just about anything if you are willing to buy it!
There is one phrase that you will hear over and over and over again, however, and it is the foundation upon which almost every successful internet entrepreneur has built his or her business: “the money is in the List!”
It is in building your mailing list that you will find the greatest success, and this will be the subject of my next post, as well as some definitions you will need to become familiar with, including “List building”, “Keywords”, “Traffic”, and a few other terms and phrases you have likely seen or heard as you have tried to get a handle on creating an online income.
